Accepted a two-year job as a corporate finance legal assistant. The pay will be pretty decent, the people are nice, and the work is grueling. Well, I hope I don't regret accepting the offer from them, and I certainly hope they don't regret offering it to me in the first place.

Sitting in my Firestone carrel.......... Thesis....... I need to take a nap. But I'll do a LITTLE more first.

Got a job offer last night, which I'm seriously considering. It's probably the most prestigious place I've applied to work at, but I'm not 100% sure if I'll like working there. We'll see, I guess. I'm still waiting for one more offer, and I haven't even applied to a few places I want to seriously consider. But I guess I can't expect them to wait for my answer for too long. I'll mull things over for one week, I guess.

REVIEWS:
V for VENDETTA

A good movie, based loosely on the Alan Moore graphic novel of the same name. Had Natalie Portman in it, whose a fav or mine, and the story was interesting and relevant, but it didn't have the same umph as the other movies I've seen recently. Still, it's a good movie, and I think it'll surprise you. B

THE BOURNE SUPREMACY
All out action and a lot more fun than I expected. Still don't like Matt Damon playing David Webb, and was disappointed that the story is so different from Ludlum's novel. But taking the movie on its own merits, it's pretty awesome. A-

Bush's approval rating is 34%... there's no need to panic just yet, but I can't really think of ways he's turn it around. Maybe if they capture Osama Bin Laden? As a lame duck Prez, he's not going to have too many opportunities left. Republicans are understandably afraid of being associated too close to the Prez, so many are starting to jump ship.

North Korea test-fired two short-range missiles this week, and they are reportedly "a quantum leap forward" compared to previous missiles tested by the Communist nation. Because they are boosted on solid fuel, they are believed to be vastly superior in reliability, mobility, and precision. Sorta scary, huh?

If you haven't seen it, this is the live-action Simpsons opening. It's pretty cool:

My yummy birthday cake that my sister sent me. It was juuuuuust right.

So my birthday was on Sunday, March 5th, and I ended up going to the city with my best bud on Saturday night. She took me to Fiamma (206 Sprint St.) and then Thor (107 Rivington St.) to celebrate, and a good time was had by all. I should really do something nice for her for her next birthday. I joke around with her from time to time, but she's good to me.

South Korea is doing awesome in the World Baseball Classic so far, beating Taiwan, China, and Japan. They'll be going up against Japan again in the upcoming weeks, but it's definitely a pretty cool time for Korean baseball.

Life can be confusing... But perhaps mystery is the spice of life. Do I believe that? Hard to say.

Quickies:

-The names of the remaining Gitmo prisoners were released today, marking a victory for the Associate Press. For the previous 4 years, the government concealed the names, for privacy and security reasons.

-The Baseball World Classic started last night in Japan, with South Korea edging out Taiwan 2-0.

-Snyder's Honey Mustard & Onion Nibblers are delicious.

Truer words have never been spoken.

The Senate has approved the renewal of the Patriot Act, with a disappointing vote of 89-10. But I suppose it was to be suspected. Most components of the PA are quite necessary, so I guess my only hope is that we will see some amendments in the future.

Bush visited India this past week and legitamized India's use of nuclear energy, after decades of uneasiness about nuclear proliferation in South Asia. Relations between Washington and New Delhi have been on the rocks recently, with Pakistan being one of Bush's key allies in the war against terror. Indian-Pakistani relations, of course, have been on the rocks for decades, sometimes leading to some scary moments of abrasive brinkmanship, including nuclear. But in the long-term, US-Indian relations will become a key component to containing any Chinese expansion. China has recently become an international economic golden boy, but India possibly has even more potential, as their population is outpacing China's, and their greater political liberalization is believed to be- in theory- more conducive to capitalistic innovations. India is still a few decades behind China in terms of grow and industry, but the US is smart to improve relations now so that there can be some regional counterbalancing in the future. The Japan-India partnership also remains quite strong.

One day there was a good dog, and he becomes mesmerized by a large green snake hanging from a tree while on his way through a dense forest. The dog was young and naive, so he says, "Hello. I'm sorry to be rude, but what are you?"
"I'm a swan," replied the snake.
"A swan? I see. I have heard that swans are renowned for their beauty, and you are indeed a fascinatingly beautiful creature."
The snake blushed. "Thank you. Why don't you come see me tomorrow and we'll talk?" The dog agreed.
That evening, the dog reached his destination and met a old man. "Old man! Old man! Guess what? I met a swan in the forest today hanging from a tree?"
"A swan?" replied the old man. "In the forest? Swans are very rare and don't hang on trees. What color was this "swan"?
"It was a beautiful green."
"That is strange," said the old man. "Adult swans are usually white, not green."
"Well, it had a leathery hide."
"That is also strange. Swans should have feathers."
The dog became frustrated. "But it had a beautiful, slender, long body with out any limbs. Surely something so mesmerizingly beautiful must be a swan."
The Old man recognized the description. "My dear dog! I'm sorry to tell you that what you saw was not a swan at all. It was a snake!"
"No, I refuse to believe you. Why would it lie to me? Even if it doesn't look or act like a swan, it must be one. I shall see it again tomorrow and as often as I can." And he did.

The End

What do I think? The dog's a fool. The snake? Perhaps it doesn't know that it's a snake. Or it has desperately convinced itself it's a swan. Regardless, it's either a liar or delusional.

Am I a fool?

This won't win the Nobel Prize for Literature, huh?
